Rule Joy Trammell Rubio has partnered with Junior Achievement of Georgia (JA) since 2011 to provide architecture and interior design services for Discovery Centers across the state. Together, RJTR and JA, whose purpose is to inspire and prepare middle school-aged children to succeed in a global economy, have completed five facilities serving over 185,000 students. In February, JA celebrated the grand opening of their fifth and most recent Discovery Center located in Savannah, GA. The project involved a renovation to an existing 23,000 square foot structure on the Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus. The facility houses two JA educational simulations, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, each with their own unique program function and design. JA BizTown focuses on career readiness, business-to-business commerce, and macroeconomic principles, while JA Finance Park focuses on financial literacy by providing a three-dimensional version of the game of “LIFE.” As a result of JA’s global impact and the success of their vision where “young people have the skillset and mindset to build thriving communities,” Junior Achievement Worldwide has been nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
Through RJTR’s knowledge and history in educational and experiential design, the Georgia Discovery Centers have become a successful prototype for JA throughout the United States. Rule Joy Trammell Rubio’s hyper-realistic interior design, imaginative details, and successful focus on long-term durability and maintenance requirements have set a precedent that is admired and sought after by the organization, both nationally and internationally.
