The skyline of New Orleans is set to transform with the arrival of the Omni New Orleans, a 1,000-room headquarters hotel that will bring fresh energy to the city’s convention scene. RJTR designed this $575 million project that is more than just a building - it’s a statement about the city’s growth and future. Working closely with the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority, RJTR has envisioned a hotel that honors the historic charm of the Warehouse District while introducing a bold, modern presence.
The design of the Omni New Orleans carefully respects its surroundings. Rising 300 feet, the tower is wrapped in dark brick and steel, materials that echo the district’s industrial past while giving the hotel a contemporary edge. Thoughtful detailing ensures that the building feels like a natural extension of its neighborhood. Expansive glass panels flood the interiors with natural light and offer stunning views of the Mississippi River, creating a seamless connection between the inside and the world beyond.

Inside, the hotel is designed to feel welcoming and sophisticated. Meeting and event spaces are arranged with efficiency in mind, catering to the needs of business travelers and convention attendees. RJTR has crafted spaces that invite people to gather, linger, and connect. Restaurants and bars spill into lively common areas, while a rooftop pool deck offers a luxurious retreat above the city. Every material and texture is carefully chosen to reflect the richness of New Orleans’ cultural fabric, making the hotel a true extension of the city itself.
One of the most exciting aspects of the project is its relationship with the Mississippi River Heritage Park. Rather than standing apart from the city, the hotel is designed to integrate with the surrounding park, enhancing accessibility and making it a more inviting space for residents and visitors alike. The landscape around the hotel is carefully planned to encourage pedestrian activity, with thoughtfully placed seating areas, pathways, and green spaces that blend effortlessly into the urban environment.
RJTR’s vision for the Omni New Orleans is set to begin in construction in 2026, with completion expected in 2029. When it opens its doors, the hotel will not just be a place to stay; it will be a destination that celebrates the spirit of New Orleans, its history, and its bright future.
"The hotel is designed to seamlessly blend modern sophistication with the historic character of the Warehouse District. The design emphasizes rich materials, thoughtful detailing, and a strong connection to the surrounding urban fabric, creating a landmark that enhances both the skyline and the pedestrian experience."
